On Sunday two of our lovely friends gave Dwayne and I to see tickets to watch Thriller Live
Having said we wanted to go and see it for quite some time now we embraced the tickets with open arms and skipped right on down to London's Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Aside from Michael Jackson hits and the moon walk I wasn't too sure what to expect - having only seen my first West End Production (The Lion King) about two years ago I'm a n newbie to the world of theatre! Despite this as we took our seats in the upper circle, we admired the view of the people below and the stage ahead eagerly waiting for the show to start.
^ We admired the chandelier and pretty ceiling deco too!
Not wanting to be told off for taking photographs during the performance, I reluctantly obliged despite wanting to take so many pictures to look back on. So without any visuals you're going to have to trust my word...
THE SHOW WAS AMAZING!!
They take you through a history of Michael Jackson's hits starting from the likes of ABC and Blame It On The Boogie to Dirty Diana, Billy Jean, Man in the Mirror, Earth Song and of course THRILLER.
Hit after Hit after Hit is performed with minimal talking in-between.
During the final curtain you're left applauding whoever did the casting, the choreography and of course the director who put everything together. You start to admire how fit the dancers are who dance with so much energy right from the beginning all the way to end. You admire all 6 of the "Michael Jacksons" who each took turns but often collectively did a lot of justice to the King Of Pops hits. One of them had the best Michael Jackson moves we'd ever seen I'm sure I heard Dwayne shout "It's him, it's really him" a few times!
Did I forget to mention there's a bit of audience participation too?!
We ended a great afternoon with the lyrics to Blame it on the Boogie in our heads and Nandos in our belly!
^ Excuse the mess we were so hungry we just wanted to get stuck right in!
We always like to give films at the cinema a subjective rating out of 10, yet only 1 or 2 film have every come close to getting full marks from us. Yet without hesitation we awarded Thriller Live a big 12/10 completely smashing our rating scale. So if you haven't seen it yet, we definitely recommend you do!
