During my first year at Uni I found that the word 'discount' meant so much more to me then it did before! There are so many websites, cards and discount schemes available to students that it can be hard to decide which ones are worth signing up for. Soooo, I thought I'd share some of my discoveries with you :)

Venosa Beach and Spa resort, Turkey
Two weeks ago I travelled to the 5* Venosa Beach and Spa resort in Altinkim Turkey with my partner Dwayne my Mum and my 3-year-old sister. I booked the holiday through First Choice last October and due to booking it early I got a really good deal for 7 nights in this lovely resort. The hotel was all-inclusive and so we could eat and drink all we wanted all day, which was a God send especially in the heat.
The Hotel
We arrived at the hotel at about
1:30am local time after a four hour flight and an hour and a half transfer from
Bodrum airport. Despite arriving in the early hours of the morning
check-in didn't take too long and a lovely gentleman showed us around
the hotel room as well as carrying our luggage. Our room was on the middle of
the 5th floor, which means we had a massive balcony and an amazing sea
view. The hotel was extremely clean inside and out even at meal times and
despite the pools not being covered over at night there was never any insects
or rubbish in them. Speaking of pools the hotel has four pools, 3 water
slides as well as a private beach so the pools were never
crowded. Daily meals consisted of: Breakfast, late breakfast, lunch, snack
bar, dinner and then late night snacks so we never went hungry. The hotel
has some really good facilities; my personal favourite was the spa. I had a
Turkish bath and an aromatherapy massage which was amazing and very cheap
too. In addition it had a few little shops and a games room that were very
handy for buying water inflatables and those odd toiletries I forgot.
Turkey
Firstly, I have to say the weather
was amazing; the temperature was in the high 30's almost every day, which was a
lovely excuse to jump in and out of one of the massive 4 pools! Of course this
kind of heat does become a slight problem when you want to travel into the town
or to do some sightseeing because it is just so HOT. However, venturing out of the hotel
is very easy, a small bus (called a Dolmus) stops right outside the hotel and
takes you into the town for just 2L each, which is about 60p! Bargain! Just a
warning though, the roads are very bumpy and they do drive very fast!
Eeekk. The town is full of little shops
trying to sell you merchandise and they will pester you to come inside their
shop and "look" and when you do find something you like they will try
and over charge you haha. We was advised to half their asking price and then
half it again and offer them that price, they will never say no! This is all a
part of the Turkey experience and can be good fun.
There's just so much I could say about the week I spent in Turkey: like my visit to the local water park and to Apollos Temple, but I think I'll save them for another post ;-) Overall, my holiday was good fun and I would certainly go back. But, I'm itching to travel the world, so for now this is my "Gule Gule" to Turkey

Gladiators!!
I am a massive Scandal fan! When I first heard that the show would be coming back for a Fourth Season this September I was over the moon. Scandal only starting premiering in the UK about a year ago and is currently at the end of Season Two. Of course I'm too impatient to be that behind and so I watch Scandal online so that I'm up to date with my fellow American viewers.
Who will be "Standing in the Sun with Me" on the 25th of September?!
I'm already putting my White Hat on!

Cineworld Unlimited Card
As regular cinema goers at the beginning of the year me and my partner Dwayne looked through a comprehensive list of all films being released in the UK during 2014. After counting the number of films we 'definitely' wanted to see (which was about 20+) we decided that it would be much more economical for us to get a Cineworld Unlimited Card.
The Cineworld Unlimited card costs me £15.90 a month, however I believe the price for new members recently increased to £16.40, and it means I can see as many films as I like at any Cineworld (except for the London west end) every month. I think this is amazing value and would recommend it to anyone who watches on average more than one film a month in the cinema.
P.S. We recently saw the new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie and it was amazing! Would definitely recommend to everyone
